Mother's Day Melancholy

I still miss Mama!

No matter how old you may be, every mother's day you would look out for things to buy for your mother on Mother's day. Right? Its' been 6 years since I last bought a gift for Mama. She would always look forward to Mother's day because she knows that she doesn't have to cook on that day. Adik-adik and I would sometimes make breakfast in bed. At the time, burnt toast n watery scrambled eggs seemed scrumptious!

We don't make toast anymore. Mama is in heaven now. My heart still aches for Mama. I hate that she's not around to nag me to clean my room. I hate that she's not around to glare at me when I feed the children chocolate at night. I hate that she's not around to disapprove of my taste in clothes. I hate that she's not around to frown when my children colour her walls with crayola. But most of all I hate that she's not around to hug me when I don't have the answers to everything. I hate that I can't cry on her shoulder whenever my husband and I fight. I hate that she's not around to hold my hand and tell me everything will be alright.

I miss Mama dearly. I visit her every so often. I still talk to her. Ask her questions I'm likely to know the answer because she taught me so. I bitch about how bad some days are, only to pick myself up again because I know exactly what she would say to make me feel better.

As I sit here opening the gift my children made me for Mother's Day; I'm trying really hard to recollect what Mama would say to my life right now. I can think of a few major topics that she would roll over... Hah!
1. How I raise my children
2. How I earn more blessedly
3. How I live in a more Islamic way

I guess I will slowly hatch these topics and write about them next.

By the way, do you wanna know what my gorgeous children got me for Mother's Day?

Inspire to Aspire

I want to inspire people!

As a once-young woman, I have always been attracted to other women who have 'made it'. I've always been curious to know their success stories and what goes on behind that powerful smile. I've always made a mental note to be just as great as these women or even better in my own right. As life passes me by, my role models change and for very good reasons. I adored mother Theresa for the compassion and undivided love for people. I had high respect for Margaret Thatcher for her willfulness and courage to lead a country in a time where women were still very much homemakers.

Today I see many women whom I wish to emulate and replicate one way or another. Simply because their desires are similar to mine, their obstacles are also my challenges, their strength is my motivation and their wisdom is my benchmark of all things possible. I think all of us need someone to look up to. To marvel at their life's work only to induce a burning desire for us to be just as great as these people.

In my time line, I am just in awe of everyday women who have surpassed their greatest ordeal to become extraordinary human beings. To become so capable of doing so many things and be good at all of them. Though some may say you can't have your cake and eat it; well...if you made your own cake, with your very own recipe, you can very well eat it. The CHOICE IS YOURS.

My silent wish is to be able to inspire some of these women who are constantly battling doubts of their own self esteem. I want to shake them and show them a reflection of themselves that there is nothing stopping them from achieving greatness. Some women value greatness or success by way of the success of children, some women measure success by how much money they make. Be that as it may, every women deserves the right to happiness, success and fulfillment.

As Beyonce would say, “Whenever I feel bad, I use that feeling to motivate me to work harder. I only allow myself one day to feel sorry for myself. When I’m not feeling my best I ask myself, ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.”

London - Paris...a reality! Part 2 - The romance

I am in Paris! Finally...

Bonjour! like I said, for as long as I could read romance novels, Paris had always been my dream destination. And now I am finally stepping foot onto that very land. Have you ever felt that feeling when you have achieved something that once seemed so far out of reach? It's like winning the Wimbeldon! Its like winning the lottery! Its a feeling you can't really describe in words but sends you to cloud nine for days on end. That's all I can say.
Paris, I am finally here!

Arc De Triomphe - honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.

Romance is definitely in the air.

The Eiffel Tower in my opinion is the most spectacular part of Paris. It stands at 300 meters tall and was constructed for the World Exhibition in 1889 in celebration of the French Revolution in 1789. Built by the same architect, Gustave Eiffel; the French then thought it was hideous and had no individuality due to its massive steel structures. Can you believe it?

Louvre Museum Interior, Paris
Louvre Museum

The collection of the Louvre Museum was first established in the 16th century as the private collection of King Francis I. One of the works of art he purchased was the now famous Mona Lisa painting. I'm still wondering if that is the original Mona Lisa, since it had been stolen before?

After a long day at the Lourve, we ventured for some nice French cuisine. Escargot!!! Yummy.

Behind me is the bridge of LOVE. Notice the enormous padlocks on the bridge? Couples "LOCK" in their confessions of love on that very bridge. If I were to do it, I would get one giant padlock for you my love.

Je vais à Paris

I'm going to Paris!

Paris est ma destination de rêve. Ever since I developed hormones, I've always dreamt of being in Paris. Being in the land of romance. Much has been written about the city, the people, the fashion but mostly the amorousness of it all.

I can already picture myself sipping cafe latte in a quint cafe watching the beautifully manicured Parisan women pass by and secretly swooning the ever so hairy frenchmen ... and when the waiter utters "Voulez-vous un verre" I would reply "Je voudrais s'il vous plaît un caffè latte" Believe you me that's about the only french I know.

Who would have guessed that my first trip to Paris would be before I turn 40!

Its like from the fairytale book where wishes do come true. Just like Cinderella! I really do believe now that whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve.

So I googled what to do in Paris, according to http://www.davidlebovitz.com/ "what's not sexy about Paris?" They make eating burgers look sexy!

Parisians Want to Seduce You... Ooo I like! For the French, seduction isn’t just for the bedroom. They consider the power to seduce an essential skill in everyday life, useful for everything from getting their own way in an argument to winning over clients in business. The secret is in the art of presentation -- – used to entice, tease, and lure. Oh my knees are shaking!.From clothing, candies, toys, and artworks…with a whole city of boutique windows designed to please, it’s no wonder the French phrase for window shopping is faire du lèche-vitrines (window licking). Enjoy the priceless pleasures of strolling arm-in-arm past the city’s oldest boutique windows in Les Passages Couverts, historic 19th-century shopping passages pre-dating today’s department stores and shopping malls.

Shall I Kiss under the Pont-Marie? Ooo la la... The Pont-Marie is known as the "bridge of lovers" and legend has it that if you kiss under the Pont-Marie and wish for eternal love, your wish will be granted.

I can't wait!

Watch this space for more updates...

But... if you are dying to know!

Mad about Maharani

I hate period pain!

Some women dread that time of the month. The very thought of mentrual cramps is enough to get them an MC. Yikes! Imagine feeling so bloated and constantly having that aching feeling in your tummy while attending a meeting at work. You have to so pretend to smile in front of your clients when all you really want to do is curl up in bed and listen to Simply Red on the radio.

Well, fear no more ladies.

For centuries, the Chinese medicinal herbalist have concocted a potion to relief these sorts of pain for us women. It dates as far back to the Ming Dynasty where the Royal Dispensary gave this supplement to the concubines, including East and West Dowager of Qing Palace. Peking Te Zhi Bai Feng Wan or The Maharani as its fondly known is a supplement for youthfulness, beauty, health and longevity. Its a variety of precious Chinese medicines that have been collected and processed by the latest technology to produce fine, soft and moisture quality with great aroma for better energy and blood replenishment and menstrual regulation.

While it is an excellent source to replenish energy and blood and regulate menstrual cycle. It also helps stop vaginal discharge as well as ease melancholy and pain. The Maharani also treats feebleness, aching and limpness of loins and knees, spontaneous sweating, palpitations, bone-heat syndromes, menstrual disorder, diarrhea, uterine bleeding and leucorrhea caused by deficiency of energy and blood.

This supplement consists of more than 20 types of precious Chinese medicines including Gallus Gallus Domesticus (Black Fowl), Concha Ostrea Gigas, Cornu Cervus Nippon, Radix Astragalus Membranaceus, Radix Panax Ginseng, Rhizoma Cyperus Rotundus, Radix Angelica Sinensis, Radix Paeonia Lactiflora, Radix Rehmannia Glutinosa, Rhizoma Ligusticum Chuanxiong, Radix Salvia Miltiorrhiza, Rhizoma Dioscorea Opposita and Radix Giycyrrhiza Uralensis.

In plain English, its a herbal concoction that works!

I do suggest that when taking the Maharani, you drink at least 2 liters of water throughout the day for better absorption into the body. It should not be consumed by pregnant women. There's 50 small pallets in 1 big white ball (casing); it is recommended that you take 50 small pallets per day for 6 days beginning from the first day after your period ends.

Here's to a healthier you from within!

Sweet Serene Sleep

I love my sleep!

Often times we think we're sleeping but our minds seem to wonder everywhere. "Did I lock the door?", "Remember to pick up the dry cleaning", "Email that letter before the boss finds out"... could just be some of the things we think about just before we put our head on the pillow. As a result we wake up feeling like we didn't sleep a wink. How many of us feel this way, say I?!!!

How many of us crave for a good nights' sleep? Do we really get quality in our sleep? Quality sleep means having sufficient duration and depth of rest that results in us feeling awake and refreshed throughout the day. This is so important because for me I'm on my feet all day. When I'm not meeting clients, I'm juggling the kids activities and chasing my 11-month old up the stairs. Momma needs energy!

When our body is at rest, all our cells are renewed and recharged,  repairing work to injuries and illnesses take place; our brain activities that control emotions, decision-making processes, and social interaction shuts down, allowing us to maintain optimal emotional and social functioning when we are awake. You know that our sleep also strengthens the presence of our mind and consciousness, makes us feel more energized and physically more alert. It also enhances our memory and learning capacity; reduces stress... (we can all use that!), tension and anxiety.

Lucky for me I have a new sleeping partner. Haaa.... don't get me wrong. I like the old man just the same! Thanks to the Bio Velocity Sleep Mate, I now have a more rested sleep. Admittedly, I was a bit sceptical at first. I've been paying a visit to the massage parlour more frequently to relief my stiff neck. I tried it for 2 days and I am happy to say that I wake up feeling very fresh. Its like I slept for 10 solid hours. Bear in mind that I still do night feeds. My neck feels much better...too bad for Thai Odyssey though! haaahaaa...

Lets face it, we live such hectic lives either by choice or just because we have to survive. How can we possibly get through the day if we don't have enough energy? We all need to start the day right!
