Teachings from Timothy Green

I cried when I watched 'The odd life of Timothy Green'

It's a story about how badly a couple wanted to have children when it was medically not possible for them to have their own. They wished so hard that one day they were blessed with the presence of this young boy named Timothy Green.

I won't spoil the mystery of where he came from but I will share what I took from the movie.

We take the things we have for granted sometimes. Not realizing that somewhere in this same world someone is wishing they had it. Women take giving birth to a child so easily sometimes ... It is not just the labour pain that endorses us as mothers , giving a life that means something to that child is serious business. Not just pushing it out of our once tiny veejay jay... It means growing up with that life we created and learning from them just as they learn from us.

Timothy green taught me (and his parents) about appreciating life as it comes...even if shit hits you in the face...you make chocolate chip cookies out of it. I have to admit as adults it's harder to do that. We preach it to our kids, not realizing that innocently they are the ones practicing it effortlessly. When Timothy's coach said he sucked at football...Timothy said "Good! That means I can only get better!" How many of us smile at the face of challenge? I know sometimes I would rather hide under the bed!

What was your defining moment in that movie?

More to come...

10 reasons to try

I tried and I like!

My mama always said, "try it, you might just end up liking it". That is so true in so many instances. For example, eating durians...hated the smell, but once I tried it, I couldn't stop! Shopping...tried it and of course cannot stop la! hah!

Watch out for more information on this post!

Can't wait?
Hardy har har

Ask me then...

Breast is Best

I love breastfeeding!

Eversince I had my first child, I breastfed till she was 18 months; and my second for 12 months and now my new born baby...lets see how long he wants me for. I'm a strong advocate for natural feeding simply because its a win win situation for both baby and mummy. The benefits of breastmilk is not only endless but proven. From a health perspective, breastfed babies tend to be less colicy, stronger bones, less likely to get sick. Of course, from the nurturing point of view, the emotional bond between baby and mummy is said to be closer. Then from the mummy's point of view, its a win situation where she can feed anytime, anywhere. She doesn't have to worry about bringing a huge carrier with thermos and milk powder everywhere. Of course, grandpa cannot take the baby for a holiday without his mummy. Yea!

Over the course of motherhood, I have gained some useful insights on how to produce more breastmilk. Some advise are really crazy but I did them anyway. Hey, you'll never know if you don't try! So what I can share is what I have personally tried and works for me

Food for the breast

Don't try to diet while you're breastfeeding. Breastfeeding moms tend to lose weight naturally anyway. Drink plenty of fluid; between 6-8 glasses a day. You need a minimum of 1800 calaries a day while you're lactating so eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and a decent amount of proteins and carbs.Try to limit your intake for sweet stuff...i did say "try".
Herbs like fenugreek, fennel seeds are a great source of iron, calcium, vitamins and minerals and can be added to many asian dishes easily. Be wary not to take too much as it can be mildly dieuretic and you may end up losing water. Lentils or dhals, together with lady's fingers are believed to assist in producing more milk in your body. Almonds and cashews are said to aid breastfeeding too.

Massage for the breast

Try massaging the breast gently as you nurse. This can help the rich, higher calorie hindmilk let down more efficiently. Using breast compression is an simple, easy, and effective way to help your baby get more milk. Here’s a video that shows Dr. Jack Newman helping a mom use breast compression to help a baby get more milk as she nurses:

Brasserie for the breast

If I wasn't a self testimony, I wouldn't have believed it! It came by chance when I started wearing this amazing corset to help me regain my pre-pregnancy shape. I was so surprised when my breastmilk was constantly filling up every 2-3 hours. I know when our baby feeds on demand its easy to get a let-down often. Before I wore this premium beautiful corset, I expressed twice a day but after a week of wearing it, I could express my breastmilk 3 times a day with an increase from 3 ounces to 4 ounces each time.

Whatever the remedy or antidote, we as moms would definitely find means and ways to give the best for our babies. Its a natural instinct!

Money Madness

I don't want to worry about money!

Wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to worry about spending your money? I'm not saying we should be 'boros' ie splurge without a care in the world; I'm just saying it would be nice to know that you can be a shopaholic and know that there is enough to pay the bills and childrens' school fees.

I used to worry about things like this all the time. I have a job that pays. True. But I want more. I want to be able to shop till I drop without having to sign up for shopaholic anonymous. Hah! I want to give my children quality education by providing them with the right tools; I want a house I can call my own with a big island kitchen overlooking the garden; I want to whisk my husband a surprise trip to Paris for our anniversary; I want to take my entire big rowdy family on a road trip around Malaysia without having them spend a single cent. That's not too much to ask right?

All these shall remain a dream if we don't work towards actually getting it...like putting a down payment on a house or buying that ticket to Paris. Action speaks louder than words. While money is not everything...EVERYTHING is money!

Eversince I took that leap of faith, I have been silently pleased with myself. I have been able to earn an extra 4-figure income over and above my usual salary. In fact, I'm on my way to earn 5-figure income soon. Its crazy right! I always thought that if you wanted to make that kindda money, you'd have to work 2 jobs, virtually 24 hours. But not me! Not this new business venture that I'm in. This business venture allows me to work and play at the same time. I'm meeting people that I enjoy to be in their company; I'm talking about things that are dear to my heart and works for me.

I mean, what business allows us to do what we like?
What business allows us the flexiblity of time?
What crazy business gives us high returns on our investment?
Its mind boggling! But I'm smiling coz I did it!
The best part is that I make my own schedule to suit my current lifestyle. By doing so, I'm raking in all these mulla!!!

How to get a date...with your spouse

I miss going out on a date!

Let's face it, when you've got office deadlines, household chores and kids in tow, who has time for a date night? You'll be lucky to have a quite dinner in front of the tv because the kids went to bed early that day. As much as we are tired to do all these obligations, we must never forget that we are first man and woman who need a bit of 'us' time too. Sometimes we are so busy playing the role of a mother and household manager, we take for granted our role as a wife and companion to our husband. Sure it's easy to find excuses not to make the effort, after all most husbands come home, put their feet up and watch tv waiting for dinner to be served. While we on the other hand, put our handbags down, put on our aprons and at the same time listen to our kids telling us how their day went.

Let's not start putting our lipstick on only when our husband starts looking elsewhere. Once he's distracted it's an uphill task. Lure him, tease him, treat him like he's king but most of all show him that he's still a man. Boost his ego! Yes, I know some of you are rolling your eyes already. But ladies, isn't he the man who once bought you flowers, seranade a song or two and even (then) bought you expensive gifts? So it's worthwhile to rekindle that romance even if it's just for one night, right?

So what are you waiting for? Strap on those heels ladies!

Step 1
  • Greet him with a smile followed by a soft peck on the cheeks and another one the neck. Tell him it's been ages since you've gone to your favourite restaurant... Or mamak stall. Suggest (don't instruct, men hate to be told what to do...they have their mothers to do that) one day of the week that you know is convenient for both of you.
Step 2
  • For the days leading to the date, tell him how excited you are. Reminisce the last time you guys did this sort of thing. Send him an SMS saying you can't wait for the day. Please don't include in that SMS your grocery list or what the kids did.

Step 3
  • The date! Wear something nice or new or throwback blast from the past outfit. Anything that makes you feel confident and that doesn't say 'I'm just a mom who hasn't waxed in ages'. Then complement him on his attire even if he forgets to take a second look at you. Make sure you spray some nice perfume that makes him wanna sniff you even more.

Step 4
  • The minute you guys step out of the house, no more talking about the kids or that the house roof is leaking! Take a moment to conjure topics from the past, and touch personal issues like looking at him and saying ' you haven't changed one bit since the day I started going out with you'. It may be awkward and seemingly choreographed but lets face it we all need a little 'help' to turn on the magic again!
After that, the floor is yours!

Enjoy.

Note:
Ladies, having a good night out doesn't always have to be fine dining ya. You can have a blast going bowling if that's what you both used to do.

Enough of exercise

I used to exercise!

Not any more. Haa... I know its bad but with the rainy season and all. Yes, that was a lame excuse. Its all about mind over matter I say. If we think we're fit then we are. Care to rebutt anyone? But on a serious note, one should really put in at least 10-20 minutes of exercise regime into their daily routine. Easier said than done!  I came across this website that is easy on the body and its supposed to produce results. Do let me know if you're trying this so we can swop stories.

Hot Red Seminar

I wore red that day!

There were 300 eager young entrepreneurs attending the seminar on 10.11.12. Such a great show of style, strength and seriousness in pursuing their goals. A business opportunity waiting to be grabbed!

Datang dengan penuh stail dan semangat untuk bersama-sama menimba ilmu demi menggapai bintang.

Learning from the best...

I'm a newbie myself but what I took from this experience is the enthusiasm and eagerness to be the best that they can be. You can't help but be inspired by all these young entrepreneurs who definitely want something better for themselves and better yet knows how exactly they want to achieve it. I don't remember if I was this enthusiastic about something when I was in my 20's. Do you think its because we didn't want much at the time? or is it because we want more now? Why didn't I want to obtain incredible income so early in life? Which ever it may be, one things' for sure; I'm following the footsteps of the ones who have been successful. Why reinvent the wheel I say.

Often times we attend some courses and get all charged up but after awhile the fire slowly dies off. Why? This is because there's never been any follow through. That's whats different about today. Much of what we learnt (especially how to obtain incredible income...ha ha) is supposed to be implemented right? but who's checking? Without self discipline, all will be lost. But the good thing about this business opprtunity is that there's always mentors to guide you, to check on your progress and to always be a helpful ear to listen to your silliest whimps and fancies.

That's what I like...

Mentors and business partners go hand in hand

Appreciating Effort

I like receiving gifts!

Especially when it is for a job well done. It is so gratifying to know that your accomplishments have been recognised, no matter how small. Some people say it doesn't matter as long as they know they have done a good job. True. But really, in our heart of hearts it is nice to feel appreciated. It is nice to know that all that hard work pays off; be it personal satisfaction or monetary gains or just plain old ego boost. It's nice to know you are noticed!

Behold a little gift I received from my business coach and mentor for the effort that I put in to accomplish my target. So much so that now I'm enjoying a 5-figure extra income. Hey, no ones gonna hand out any freebies in this world. Everything that we want, we have to work for. Before this I only dared to dream of owning an Emilio Pucci handbag much less a Diane Von Furstenberg Iphone cover. Haaaa.... gone are the days of my trip to Sungai Wang and Petaling street. Pavillion here I come!

My very own! Certainly won't be the last...

Only the best from now on babey!

YOU could be the next proud owner of this too!

One Direction

I looove... One Direction!

That is what my 8 year old daughter has been chanting for the past months. At the time I had no idea what or who they were. Nevertheless after endless plays of "What makes you beautiful", I now know who Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are. My girls obsession is beyond me. They've started insisting on buying teen magazines that come with One Direction posters and biodata. They watch their video clips over and over again. Though I must admit they are quite cute!

Was I ever like this when I was 8? Maybe slightly older perhaps. Wait!, I remember being wildly crazy over Duran Duran, Wham!, Rick Astley, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi and of course Madonna. I remember a time before MP3's were born, we used to copy songs onto cassette tapes and proudly listen to them in our then-cool walkman. The tunes of "Wake me up before you go-go" and "Never gonna give you up" would be among the playlist. Of course, Madonna's fashion trends were mine at the time. Pony tail tied to the side, flair mini's with 3/4 tights. Oh yes, the good old days.

Duran Duran vs One Direction

I do have to admit so long as the songs are of positive influence on my children, I am all for it.

Caution on cancer

I lost Mama to cancer!

Mama battled cancer for the last 4 years of her life. It was so funny how she just went for a full medical check up and was given a clean bill of health. The doctor even said that if she were to ever get cancer, it'd be when she's 80. Whatdayaknow, a month later she was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2. No symptoms; just a quick look in the mirror when she noticed her left breast was sagging more than the right. I laughed when she complained. I said "Ma...you're getting old, of course it's gonna sag." After the doctor confirmed her biopsy, I wasn't laughing anymore.

She fought hard. Went to the best, most rigorous treatment technology could offer. After the mesactomy, Papa spared no expense to go for the highly saught after oncologist and chemo and radiotherapy treatment. We even tried a very costly cyberknife treatment. While all these was going on, Mama also read up on Breuss juicing methods. She drank a lot of fruit and vegetable juices to keep up her anti oxidant level. She began eating organic food, steaming rather than frying her meals. All these helped a bit...but the cancer had spread so fast to her lungs and eventually to her bones; she finally succumbed in 2008.

Redha. That's the word we so lightly use when faced with death. It means you accept wholeheartedly with the decision that Allah has made. One can only redha once we have completely exhausted all avenues of ikhtiar or effort. When we lost Mama, that was the case. We know in our hearts of hearts, both she and everyone around her have exhausted all options plausible, be it scientifically, traditionally and spiritually. There was nothing left to do except doa / pray that Allah gives his blessings on our efforts to heal Mama once and for all or if this was not what HE willed, then to take her in the most kindest way.

There's several moral of the story here...

1.
Never take your health and well being for granted.
Start being conscious of what you consume and how it is being prepared.
You only live once. Better live it right.
2.
You never know what live has to hand out.
Take it with grace and say thank you for all the good times.
For the bad ones, you say thanks for the experience.
3.
We do anything for Love
Family means everything and we do all that we can for them without regret.
We give them the best of everything with the satisfaction of knowing we have tried.
4.
Insure
To ensure that you get the best treatment, you need to buy protection.
To ensure that you have quality of life, you need to eat right before the deases eats you.

Share some of your experiences in either battling cancer or even as a care giver.

Arty Farty Part 1

I'm a hopeless artist!

I can't draw to save my life but I do love art. I've always been fascinated by the talent that some people have. Their ability to create something beautiful with just a few silly strokes of the brush amazes me. Itu lah rezeki dan kelebihan yang Allah beri kepada sesetengah insan. God has blessed some people with the gift of talent. Art is an expressive channel that one can use to visually explain their feelings and even thoughts. To dive into the artists' mind would be an achievement in itself.

I always try to put myself in the artists' shoes and ask "what was his inspiration when he did this?". Most if the time I just go "Wow, thats beautiful".

These are some of what I call "Pucci-inspired" Islamic pieces by Y.Effendi

Bismillah

The part where I never understood was abstact. Most of the time I would be asking "What was he thinking?" and I would be looking at it upside down trying to make sense of his masterpiece. I shall post some of the abstract masterpieces in my next post. In the meantime, tell me what you think of this Islamic modern art.

Bargained Beautiful

I got more than I bargained for!

When my makcik bidan recommended Premium Beautiful to me whilst I was in confinement; I was so excited for the fact that I was told that I will be losing weight faster...but more relieved that I don't have to wear the 6 feet long bengkung anymore. Mana tak nye, I was walking like a mummie and could not even sit properly with that wrap. After one visit to the loo, habis tanggal semua. I wanted something that would support my ever so flabby tummy and yet allowed me the freedom of movement. I got it all by using this Premium Beautiful corset.

I was instantly surprised that by applying the technics on how to wear the corset properly, I instantaneously had big boobs! woohoo!!! Big boobs. Don't play play! When I put on the girdle my butt became alive and perky. I am one happy chick. Needless to say the flabby tummy went out the window the moment I put on the waist nipper and dramatically gave me an hour glass figure. Voila! This yummy mummy is back people...

Fruits of my labour

I am going to London and Paris y'all!

Last night was the most momentous night of the month. I am finally going to the land of my dreams... Paris, France. It had been a dream of mine eversince I could pronouce the words Bon Jour! correctly to breath the air where fashion lives and fun begins! All thanks to my new found business adventure, I managed to realise my dreams a lot sooner than I can ever imagine. I was given my very first Diane Von Furstenberg Iphone cover together with a gorgeous Pucci wrislet. All for being able to command RM 100,000 sales in just 1 month. Woo hoo! Thanks to the endless support from my mentor SalhaZain for believing that if I put my mind to it; I can achieve greatness.

More on Paris later...
I'm picturing myself right under the Eiffel Tower, jumping like a maniac!
I will go crazy over the hundreds of ice cream flavours they have at Berthillon, one for each day!

Hail Chef Pierre! for his delectable macarons. I'm bringing this one back home!

Top 40 Under 40

I'm so under 40!

We got invited to Le Prestige's Top 40 under 40 event last night. It was a blast! Normally their events would be just cocktails and finger food but this year they've outdone themselves...an actual sit down 4 course meal dinner. We had a nice mix of friendly people at our table; Mr and Mrs Jimmy Sidhu from Sidhu Brothers; Mark Loh of Global Virtual Support, and of course my dearest buds from way back when, Wan Hazreek of Dara Bif.

It's so inspiring to be surrounded by all these talented and successful young entrepreneurs. I'm secretly hoping that it would rub off on me...wait a minute...there's a reason I got invited too...hehehe. Naa, its actually my husband's achievement. He's the Top 40 and I'm the Under 40 bit. :)

One things for sure, I'm so motivated to become as successful as some of these people are. The question now is how...? Oh wise one Ms Pandalela Rinong, should I just dive into doing the business that I love?

Shape me up

I have spare tyres!

Somebody help me. After delivering my third child, I really needed to lose weight and regain my almost-hour-glass figure. How can I do this with little effort? I have resigned to the fact that I am no gym junkie. I wasted my money on a gym membership which I have only gone twice in a year. I cannot ever diet, because food is my life. That would be like asking me to stop breathing. I need a camouflage! Something that would make me look thin and curvy at all the right places.

So my makcik bidan recommended me to use Premium Beautiful corset after I completed my confinement period. It was the best investment ever! Initially I wanted something that would keep all the excess flabs in tact and just to generally look shapely when I put on my kebaya. Boy was I even more surprised to learn that this corset does more than that. It helped eliminate my aching back which is mostly due to bad posture whilst I'm breastfeeding. When I started wearing it during breastfeeding sessions; I found that I was sitting up straight instead of slouching and I didn't feel the aches as much; eventually the back aches went away. I was extremely pleased because not only that; I went back to my pre-pregnancy weight in just 6 months. This has a lot to do with the FIR technology sewn into the material of this corset where it improves blood circulation and assists in regulating my metabolic rate.

I'm so happy to be wearing it for all the right reasons. Well, perhaps there would be one tiny naughty reason too... it makes my boobs look so perky! muahahaha.....*evil laughter and hair tossing... If you wear the corset the right way; then all the unwanted fats from your back gets realigned to where fats should be...which is all in front! Very happy indeed!

That was me at 6 months pregnant.

This is me now.

Holiday hopefuls

What do I do with my kids during their holidays? Help!!!

I've got some ideas...

Summer camp! :) Naaah... I don't think I can stomach the girls being away for more than 3 days much less in the wilderness. Though I was quite the adventurous and robust little girl back in the day. Now that I'm a parent, I am admittedly very protective of my children. Wasn't my parents protective over me? Sure they were, and they had the courage to stomach all the "what if's". Me on the other hand, not that brave.

So every school holidays I would come up with a list of small activities for the children to do by themselves or with us. Apart from taking them for short trips, I like to conjure projects for them to do at home. Last year, my girls had to built a scrapbook of their entire holiday activities. Naturally how the girls wanted to decorate their scrapbooks were to buy stickers and stamps from Craft Haven or use beautiful but expensive paper mesh for cut outs. No..No..No. "Build your own scrapbook from all the things you have collected during your trips and use all the existing stationery we have at home or create something" I repeatedly told the girls whenever they hinted a trip to the scrapbook store. The end results were both surprisingly creative.

There was one year where I made the girls think of an advertising campaign for a product. They had to draw their product, create a slogan and then act out the advertisement for it. It was hilarious! My Busyuk* (my second daughters' term of endearment, losely means smelly) took inspiration fr my lipstick. She created a lipstick lollipop that "you can not only have pink lips but lick it from your lips when you're hungry" that was her tagline. Belacan* (my eldest terms of endearment which is really a type of fermented shrimp but really means smelly as well); she promoted saving the earth. It was more a documentary really! Her tagline "Save water, just use the swimming pool to take a bath"... talk about recycling eh?

So what will it be this year?

Perhaps I'll start by asking them to compose a song and write the lyrics to it. Then have them do a video clip of that song. Of course, dear grandpa will be the judge and there will be 2 winners. One for the best song and one for the best music video. You can't lose! yea...

Biozone food purifier

I am reformed!

I recently saw this live demonstration done at a friends place and it was extremely worrying that no matter how clean we think we have cleaned our fruits and vege; its never clean enough!

Gone are the days of home grown chicken and vegetables. Today's vegetation and livestock depends heavily on pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals, preservatives and some livestock are even bio-engineered to cater to the consumers demand.

We can always choose or opt for organically grown/farmed food BUT again there is no guarantee that these food are FREE from harmful chemicals, bacterias, antibiotics and preservaties to help the food last longer before it reaches our mouths!

This is what I've learnt so far...

BIOZONE Food Purifier helps reduce and eliminate chemicals, bacteria, antibiotics and preservatives in our food before we eat. It helps rid of toxins dangerous to our body and even helps to keep our food stay fresh longer and taste better!

How does BIOZONE work?
BIOZONE Food Purifier uses a proprietary process integrating ozone-resistant materials to convert oxygen (O2) into ozone (O3). The ozone that eliminates contaminants will be converted back into oxygen. The medical grade silicone tube will then channel the ozone into the water where the food is immersed. Bubbling process will take place to purify the food within the pre-determined time frame.

How long do I need to purify the vegetables and meat?
Generally, all the food (Eg : fruits, vegetables, seafood) require 15 minutes. Only meat (Eg : chicken, lamb, beef) requires 30 minutes.

Moreover, there is 3 minutes ON/OFF sanitising function for a liter of water. This sanitising function is used to remove bacteria on the surface of food in a quick manner without the use of water. Generally, if you have more water, you can multiply timing accordingly. The maximum volume of water is 10 litres or 30 minutes.
Please refer to the operating instruction manual found inside the packaging box.

Will the food nutrients be lost in the purifying process?
We have a laboratory test on the meat to show that most of the nutrients are maintained. This can only be possible using a quality food purifier. Using conventional technology, it might reduce the nutrients substantially.

Does it consume excessive electricity?
No. The electricity power consumption is like lighting up a bulb in your house. It only uses 35watts.

Do I need to wash the food again after purification?
It's not necessary to wash the food after purification process. But, if you feel the need to rinse the food after purification, you can use filtered water to avoid any re-contamination with tap water.

How long can the BIOZONE Food Purifier last?
After the first 2 years, as long as you send back the machine for general maintenance once a year, it can last very long.

Can I remove antibiotics from the meat during purification process?
The foam produced did not reveal any antibiotic trace, but during the 30 minutes purification process, lab tests reports showed that antibiotic was absent in the meat after purification.

Will the foam be totally gone if I detoxify for longer periods of time?
The chances of the foam being totally gone is rare because more fats can be removed through longer periods of purification. The down side to this would mean more nutrients are lost. Hence, we do not need to over-purify the meat.

How can I be certain that BIOZONE Food Purifier can perform 100% purification?
We do not claim that BIOZONE Food Purifier can purify all chemicals by 100%. Our objective is to try to minimise as much chemicals as possible before we consume the food. Most chemicals can be reduced through the BIOZONE Purification Process, which we have a series of laboratory tests to share. Scientifically proven in many advanced countries, ozone technology is commonly used for purification of water, food and swimming pool treatment.

Better be safe than sorry

Date Night

I have a date!

It's with an ex-boyfriend. I ended up marrying him. So now he's my husband. I have a date with my husband. Sounds strange doesn't it? It's been so long since we had a night out together; getting all dressed up and making reservation for two at a fancy restaurant. I kindda forgot the thrill of getting dolled up for a big night out.

The kids are happily playing with their aunts and both hubby and I are in the car listening to Eric Benet. The mood is definitely set for romance! then... pure silence. We're so used to the kids ranting away their stories that we ourselves never engage in conversation longer than 1 minute. Now, its just the two of us. What do we talk about?

At the dinner table, we started warming up. Now, there's just so many things we wanna share with each other that we both started talking at the same time. Its so funny how two people can live with one another and yet loose touch with their inner most thoughts. I didn't realise that my husband plans to list his company in the next five years. I always assumed he'd hold on to the business forever. But realisticly, he wants to make his money while he's at the top of his game. That gave me an idea...I shared with him a business opportunity that I recently came across. To my surprise, he didn't shoot it down (as do most men), in fact he sounded quite fascinated. So we both got a bit excited of the thought of earning a bit more...

Body beautiful

I want to look sexy!

Lets face it, who in their right mind does not want to look great? Everyone including you and me wants to look our best all the time. The trouble is not everyone is blessed with the-to-die-for shape that we so ideally want. Though I secretly pray for that miracle to happen; I'm not holding my breath!

So in searching for the ideal method, I've realized that there's 2 ways of doing this - the hard way or the expensive way. The hard way is to persevere endless hours in the gym and have a beautifully scaplt body which is to exercise!!! Now the expensive way is easy. Just charge it to your credit card! Tummy tuck, liposuction, facelift, laser... You name it, just sign it! Instantaneously you will get that to-die-for body! The consequences are endless, one would really have to weigh the pros and cons before plunging into this.

Of course I would rather the easy and relatively cheap way to look sexy and beautiful. Wouldn't everybody go for that option? I may have found exactly that from Premium Beautiful. The objective is to look good and feel great right?

Missing mama

I really miss her today!

I was at the airport today and watched families saying good bye to their parents who are going off for their hajj pilgrimage. I miss mama terribly today. How my life would be different if mama was still around? I would probably fuss over what she needed to pack; making sure I ordered her favourite daging dendeng; and secretly put my shopping list in her handbag before she travelled. Mama in turn would endlessly remind me to... take my vitamins, starch the shirts before ironing, feed the cats, switch off the toilets lights and off course nag me about my solat. I can just picture her now, hands on her curvy waist uttering words like " how many times do I have to remind you?..."

"Mama went to spend a little bit of time with Allah" I would say to my girls when she passed away in 2008. How do you tell your 4 year-old she's never going to see her nenek again; never going to sleep next to her again? So whenever my daughters' misses their nenek, we would visit her grave and share the weeks' activities and gossips. That made me feel like mama was still around to lend her ear.

More on mama later...

For the love of food

I am an addict!

I am addicted to food. I live to eat. The only time I don't eat is when I'm fasting. Even then I'll be thinking of what to eat. While I'm eating breakfast I'm already thinking of what to eat for lunch. Nothing comes between me and my food. When I go to sleep, the last thing on my mind would be what will I eat tomorrow? I don't just eat because I'm hungry...which is very often indeed. I eat because it gives me such joy and satisfaction every time I devour a bite of delicious food in my mouth. Once I pick something from the menu; I'm already fantasizing how that food would go down. How each delicious bite promotes happiness that tingles all the way from my throat to my bulging belly. I get a kick out of experimenting recipes from www.foodnetwork.com/recipes Because the recipes are spot on; it doesn't matter that I'm not a good cook. Banana sour cream pancakes in 10 mins by Ina Garten : FoodNetwork TV Asia is one of my favourites! Actually, I am a sucker for anything banana. I'm thinking of making one right now...
